Goals, Action, Results, Repeat.
A monster installment about goal setting and getting what you want.
It’s been about 6 weeks since my last update, so let’s jump right in.
Financial Freedom
June 1 was the first day of my adult life (I'm 33) where I had total freedom over my work. No financial pressure to work someone else's schedule. No need to hunt for a new contract gig or polish my resume for a job search. The passive income from the software business I cofounded years ago was more than enough to support me and my family.
For years, I used work as an excuse. I put everything on the back-burner: health decisions, passion projects, new ventures, etc... Suddenly I would have all of this new freedom and no excuse for not tackling these things. I was going to need structure to avoid aimlessly bounce between ideas. To keep myself accountable and ensure I stayed focused on things that actually matter, I set some ambitious 90 day goals.
Let’s Talk About Goal Setting
Do you set goals regularly? If so, do you achieve them? If not, what’s stopping you?
Whether you’re looking to start a side business, lose 50 pounds, or learn to code, I’m going to introduce you to a totally new way to set radical goals and achieve them. I’ll use my own recent set of goals as an example.
✅ Health & Fitness - Six Pack Abs in Six Weeks
By far the most ambitious goal for this period “6 pack abs in 6 weeks.”
Yes, I realize that sounds like something from a late night infomercial… But after a decade of horrible nutrition, 60 hour work weeks, and limited exercise, I needed to set an insanely ambitious goal to kickstart the drastic lifestyle change I needed.
For a detailed look into how I applied this goal setting framework to achieve “6 pack abs in 6 weeks,” go here for the step-by-step breakdown.
For 90 days, I adopted a full keto diet, and the results were unbelievable. It was like finding a fat loss cheat code. The results shocked me. I dropped 8% body fat, lowered my blood pressure, decreased my resting heart rate, and even noticed cognitive improvements.
✅ Write, Publish, and Earn $1 with an Info Product
If you have student loans, or if you know someone with student loans, please share this with them. Back when I was $250,000 underwater in student debt with no idea what to do, I searched high and low for help. I read personal finance, listened to podcasts, talked to financial advisors, and even read legislation on the topic. I've combined years of learning and the tools that worked for me into a simple guide for others struggling with student loans.
I’ve listed Loankit for sale with a “pay what you want” price tag. Feel free to use the promo code, bootstacker, if you don’t want to pull out your credit card. I’ve sold a few copies and have already met this goal, so I’m really not concerned about profiting from it. I more interested in getting this to borrowers who need it.
With political season heating up, the #CancelStudentDebt hashtag has been making the rounds again on Twitter. During previous election cycles, I banked on getting some kind of student debt jubilee, and I was constantly let down by false promises of forgiveness. Right now, millions of borrowers are waiting around for a government bail out, and while they wait, their loans continue to grow larger.
✅ Earn $1 with New SaaS Business
After years of serving content creators with Wavve, we launched a new business targeted to podcasters and video creators called Duplikit. The software makes it incredibly easy to repurpose a video and audio content into a blog post. We’ve already sold some subscriptions, but it’s still too early to tell whether our product has what it takes to make this a successful business venture.
💰 Bonus - Launched another SaaS business
Last week we launched something we’d been planning for a long time, ChurnKey. It solves a problem we’ve wrestled with for years — improving the customer off-boarding experience for companies and their customers. I’ve built a number of tools for Wavve and since 2018, these have saved us over six figures in revenue. Now we’re turning these internal tools into a standalone product for other SaaS businesses. Check out my announcement post if you’d like to know more!

Roam Research. I’ve enjoyed using Roam since I first got access back in February, but it took me a while to get the hang of it. If you’re wondering what all the hype is about or if you’re just trying to get used to a new workflow, I highly recommend Nat Eliason’s course. Since taking the course in April, Roam has become my go-to for journaling, scratch paper, connecting ideas, meeting notes, and goal setting/ tracking.

Bitcoin. You probably know the Fed has been printing money like crazy. Smart people say we’re heading for deflation. Other intelligent people are convinced we’re heading for rapid inflation. For either environment, Bitcoin looks like the best bet out there. Over the last few months former skeptics, prominent wall street investors, top macro thinkers, and even publicly traded companies are taking large positions in Bitcoin.
